And I seriously doubt the only way to keep my phone from exploding is to push a patch that makes it so the device itself seemingly has problems figuring it the charge level of the battery it tries to keep from exploding.
I cannot stress enough how god awful this “patch” was. They completely phoned it in, doing just the bare minimum to ward off class action lawsuits or consumer protection agencies.
I will buy a new phone quite soon since CalyxOS also stopped updating it now. But the Pixel A series obviously comes with a major liability now.
bob_lemon@feddit.orgto Android@lemmy.world•Google reducing the capacity of the Pixel 6a battery after 400 cyclesEnglish6·1 day agoI got the nerf on the 4A because the battery replacement “option” requirement me to personally being my phone to a repair shop 250km away.
And calling it a nerf is flat out wrong, it’s borderline remote bricking. That patch not only slashed battery life in half, but the charge indicator was completely unreliable. I’ve seen it go from 80 to 30 in an hour (on standby, btw.), then from 30 to 25 in 2 hours.
I’ve installed CalyxOS, which comes without the nerf.

According to Krafton’s statement (see the other comment), those 3 didn’t do jack shit regarding the development of Subnautica 2 (I.e. what Krafton promised them 90% of those up to $250M for).
I know the word of the publisher doesn’t count, but unless Krafton fucked up themselves, they should have the paper trail to prove their claims, too.

Kann mir das jemand genauer erklären? Woher kommen die bisher 5 Jahre, wenn das nur in manchen Städten gilt? Sind diese Städte einfach zu langsam bei der Erstellung der Bebauungspläne?
Also central EU. Some of my prescriptions are transferred socially via my health insurance card. Others are still on paper. Even if I get them from the same doctor during the same appointment, they might be mixed.
I haven’t yet figured out the logic for which prescriptions are digital and which require paper.
Even within Europe, there was significant scientific progress during said dark ages. It’s extremely obvious by just looking at a 9th century building to those from the 14th century (especially churches). The latter require profund knowledge of mathematics/civil engineering. We went from tiny windows in 2m thick brick walls to vast, airy Gothic cathedrals (although those did take a couple of centuries to actually finish).
Although to be fair, that knowledge did largely come to Europe from the scholars of the Arabic world.
Those popups were so prolific that all browser developers responded by implementing popup blockers.
Which kind of led to the absolute mess of banner ads (and the adblockers created in response) that we still have today. I dare you to deactivate your adblocker on any of the major (commercial) news sites.
Amazon offering free shipping is a large part of why the parcel industry became a hellhole of semi-illegal subcontractors even here in Germany where labour laws exist.
Amazon redirecting you to the front page after you decline cookies is just amazingly stupid design.

When a poor kid gets flattened by an SUV, the only reasonable response is to sigh, feel sad for a moment, and then move on.
Not true. You could also call into question why the kid was outside in the vicinity of motor vehicles! Surely the parents can be blamed as well.
Ravager? I hardly know her!
Yeah, devices that can run fully local are the best. They can be integrated into Home Assistant (or similar), with full control over them. No reliance on a remote server or proprietary app.
Get ready to install a custom rom without the battery patch.
The patch they put out for the 4A basically bricked the phone. Battery life was halved, and the charge indicator was practically useless (the number could drop massively within minutes), making the remaining half battery unreliable as well.
